About one year ago, Lance and I started feeling the pull to do ministry close to home again. With Lance getting a job at San Dimas High School and the kids starting school and sports in the La Verne area, we knew God was planting us in that community.

So at the end of May 2022, we wrote down a family mission statement and decided to give it to God in prayer for one year... “We desire to do ministry in the proximity of our community so that we can use our gifts of evangelism and hospitality to reach the people of our community and make an eternal impact for our kids and their kids.”

We waited. We kept praying. We waited and prayed some more.

In about March of this year, I felt a very clear release from Unite. I fought it for a bit because it was our home and we loved the people very much, but God kept making it clear that the time had come to take a step of faith. With the support of our amazing pastor, I reached out to a few churches in the area. God swung open some doors and I started a couple interview processes.

After much prayer and a VERY CLEAR call from God, I accepted a position at Purpose Church in Pomona! I will be the Groups and Communications Pastor. I will also be leading worship, but not overseeing it. Quite the change but feel like it is the perfect fit!

When I was praying through this process, I wrote down three things that I feel passionate about. Without going into too much detail, the job description at Purpose literally included all three of those things. God works in amazing ways.

Beyond that, I feel like the heartbeat of Purpose is very similar to Unite… the heart to reach those who don’t know Jesus, the multi-ethnic and multi-generational atmosphere, the heart for reaching the marginalized and oppressed, the kids and next-gen ministry, the list goes on. It is a place I can see my family at for a very long time and for that I am so grateful.

I start at Purpose on July 17th, but first I am taking a much needed sabbatical to rest and focus on “being” instead of “doing”. Our family is so excited for this next season of ministry. GOD IS SO KIND.
